Indonesian Culinary Experience : Lunch Seafood at Batu Karas Beach, Pangandaran, Ciamis, West Java, Indonesia

Having tired of driving from the Green Canyon, we arrived at Batu Karas Beach, our next trip destination.  

With stomach feels hungry, we went to one of food stalls which is recommended by many bloggers who visit the Batu Karas Beach, named Kang Ayi restaurant.  

Kang Ayi Restaurant located in the right side of Batu Karas Beach before the parking area. 




Menu food offered here is very complete ranging from local indonesian menu, seafood menu to European menus



It does not fit into the beach when not enjoying the seafood menu. 

Our choice fell on Shrimp Sauce Padang, Cah Watercress, grilled bawal "pomfret" fish, boiled potatoes cheese and cold drinks.

Guests restaurant quite a lot so need to wait a little longer to make the ordered dishes ready to serve and eat.

Ordered food came, it looks the shrimp is fresh and large enough size accompanied with red spicy tasty sauce so appetite to eat.

 

Grilled bawal "pomfret" fish feels so tempting especially accompanied by sambal chili sauce and rice is warm, ouuhhh...really yummy.
Without any delay, we eat and enjoy the foods. Accompanied by the beach and a gentle breeze our lunch was truly sensational.


Flavor sweet and savory spices shrimp sauce really fit on the tongue, accompanied by a tasty Cah watercress "kangkung" is a harmonious blend with a warming rice.

After we eat all ordered menus, we went to the counter to make payment and continue the next activity, exploring the beach and water play in Batu Karas beach.

The atmosphere of the beach, beach sports and the menu is tasty and delicious seafood is a harmonious blend. Sensational and truly unforgettable.

Indonesian Culinary Experience : Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia

The city of Semarang, Central Java's capital, turned out to save a tempting culinary tourism potential as well. Many places to eat that have not been exposed yet, it turns out tasted better than the already known first. Semarang city is my hometown. I have left this city for over 20 years ago.

That's why when I go back to this city, I miss to taste the one menu among specialties food menu of this city named Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran from Ungaran City.

Location Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran stall is easily to be found. It’s located right on the border gate of the city of Semarang and the Ungaran city. If we ride vehicle from Semarang the stall position is the left side after the border gate. Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran, in fact almost similar to Soto Kudus (Kudus is name of other city in Central Java, Indonesia).


Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran is presented in a small bowl of rice and gravy mixed, though right now also providing rice separated. One portion of this Soto Semarang dish is quite a bit, that's why I always spend at least two bowls to make me feel full.

Soto Semarang Pak No Ungaran is served in a bowl containing rice, vermicelli, bean sprouts, sliced boiled egg, slice of onion leaf, slice chicken meat and pour a tasty gravy/sauce Soto Semarang.

As a complement, you can add chicken satay, clam satay, quail egg satay, tofu, tempe, and perkedel kentang ‘potato cakes’.

Seasoning sauce/gravy Soto is felt at all. Warm the sauce is fit in tongue.


The heat sensation of gravy soup in our mouth is really delicious and tasteful, so it make us do not want to stop eating it until the bowl is empty. Believe me, one bowl is not enough to taste the delicious Soto Semarang Pak No. Add one more bowl as your wish.


Warung Soto Semarang Pak No is open from 7 AM until 9-10 PM.

Price per serving dish is relatively cheap with ranging from Rp. 7000, - (USD 1) and it’s complementary foods Rp. 2000,-. (USD0.2). It was still an affordable price.

Indonesian Culinary Experience : Gudeg Yogya Yu Djum Wijilan Jogyakarta, Indonesia



Wijilan Village is a famous Gudeg Village in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.





To reach Wijilan Village from Malioboro street is not too difficult. From Malioboro street walk to the south of the road, until you find the Alun-Alun Utara Keraton, then turn left / east, and down to the Ibu Ruswo street till you meet Plengkung Wijilan, then turned south down the road Wijilan.

Near Plengkung Wijilan there is a signboard, bearing the Gudeg Wijilan Village, proved to be along the road Wijilan Village there are a lot of stall sellers serve Gudeg menu, one of them is quite legendary "Gudeg Yogya Yu Djum".







Gudeg Yogya Yu Djum Wijilan is located on the Wijilan street no 31 (Selatan Plengkungan Wijilan) Yogyakarta, Indonesia. 

Gudeg Yu Djum Wijilan was founded in 1946, when it was first stood up, this Gudeg stall named Warung Gudeg Ibu Djuwariah.

Gudeg is made from young jackfruit which is cooked long enough with a sprinkling of spices, coconut milk and brown sugar.  

The blended of jack fruit, spices, coconut milk and brown sugar serves savory sweet taste sensation that pamper the tongue of the audience.

A mixture of brown sugar makes the Gudeg dishes brown and alluring taste.

Gudeg menu is served together with rice, chilli sauce, krecek (cowhide dishes) and bean chilli sauce fries, boiled eggs, tahu “tofu”/ tempe fries and chicken curry.

In addition to direct eaten in the stall, many visitors bring Gudeg as souvenirs for their family at home.  

As souvenir, Gudeg is packaged in a kendhil named Gudeg Kendhil. Gudeg kendhil is a complete Gudeg package which is presented in a kendhil (a type of clay pottery) and wrapped in cardboard. Gudeg Kendhil specially served for visitirs who want to bring this menu to their home “take away”.  

Gudeg Kendhil in complete package contains of gudeg, krecek and beans chili sauce fries, opor chicken “chicken curry and duck eggs boiled, and areh (thick coconut milk).

Indonesian Culinary Experience : Ice Cream Ragusa, Jakarta, Indonesia



Ragusa name is certainly familiar to fans of ice cream in Jakarta. Who would have thought, ice cream parlor that was pioneered by the family of Italian Ragusa was originally a tailor business (sewing).

When Vincent Ragusa is visiting dairy farms in Bandung, he was sorry to see the amount of milk that is not processed and disposed.
He has an idea to use that milk to make ice cream. Then, in 1932, every time Gambir Night Market that was held for one month in a year, Ragusa has started serving ice cream.

Due to the growing number of enthusiasts, Ragusa was still opening stores in Jalan (means street) Segara I or now better known by the name of Jalan Veteran I number 10 until now. Ice Cream Ragusa Café is located on Jalan Veteran I No.10 Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta, Indonesia opposite the Istiqlal mosque in Jakarta.

Ice Cream Ragusa Café always open every day from 10.00 AM until 22.30 PM.
When lunchtime arrived, this place will be more crowded, many of them want to enjoy the freshness of ice cream in the afternoon. Most of them are old customers who had often visited this place.

Dutch building complete with its past interior, ancient chairs, black and white photographs, and ice cream that does not use preservatives, have made Ice Cream Ragusa Café unique and differentiates it from other cafes.


 

Ice cream Ragusa more exotic because its made ​​by hand, and since 1947 Ragusa was never alter the taste of ice cream. That’s why the flavor of ice cream Ragusa maintained and always popular to their audiences.

Spaghetti Ice Cream

 I also chose to enjoy the ice cream spaghetti menu. Its soft ice cream with candied fruit and chocolate topping that really spoil my tongue

Indonesian Culinary Experience : Rujak Cingur Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia



Food Description

Rujak Cingur is snack food that becomes a typical Surabaya's food, that consisted of several kinds fruits slices like cucumber, bengkoang, young mangoes, pineapples and kedondong, it is added with rice cake, tofu, fermented soybean cake, bendoyo or krai (a kind of cucumber boiled) and cingur as well as vegetables (sprout, leafy vegetable& long peanuts) and was mixed with sauce or the spice that is made from the prawns fermented, chili, fried peanuts, fried onion & salt. It has called as rujak cingur because the whim spice that being used were prawns fermented and the slice of cingur, whereas rujak generally without using these ingredients. It can be served with pincuk from bananas leaves (the bananas leaves) or plate which was usually accompanied with chips.

My Tasty Culinary Experience

During my hometown visit with family in Semarang, Central Java Indonesia, my wife want to eat her favorite menu named Rujak Cingur. It makes me little bit confused because this menu is hard to find in this city. After having asked a few friends, finally I found Rujak Cingur stall Bu Sri “Mrs Sri” located at Pekunden Timur Street No. 2, Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia.

Pekunden Timur road is located in a small alley next to the school Ksatrian and across from the Hotel Ibis Semarang when we walked from the Simpang Lima (one of the famous landmarks in Semarang).

The main menu of this restaurant Rujak Cingur, Pecel Madiun, Rujak Surabaya, Pecel kangkung, Mixed ice-Cao. Cingur is a well done boiled slice of lips beef meat. Mixed ice Cao is shaved ice mixed with fruit, young coconut, jelly, pour sweetened liquid milk and red syrup.


Most visitors order a Rujak Cingur dan Rujak Surabaya together with mixed ice cao which is a special menu at this restaurant. Rujak Cingur and Rujak Surabaya is nearly similar menu, just additional Cingur that make them different.

Eating Rujak Cingur not be complete without enjoying a refreshing Mixed ice-cao, to reduce the spicy taste after eating a Rujak, so cool and freshness.

Price per serving of each menu is not more than Rp. 20.000, - (USD 2)

Indonesian Culinary Experience : Rawon Nguling Probolinggo East Java Indonesia



Rawon or Nasi Rawon/Rawon Rice (when served with rice) is a strong rich tasting traditional Indonesian beef black soup.Originally from Surabaya in Indonesian province of East Java. It uses black nuts/keluak (Pangeum edule, fruits of kepayang tree) as the main spice which gives the strong nutty flavor and dark color to the soup.

One of Rice Rawon delicious, famous and legendary is Rawong Nguling. One loyal customer Rawon Nguling is the President of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono

Rawon Nguling is located in District Nguling, Probolinggo, East Java. The restaurant is located on the main route of Jalan Surabaya - Bali.

Once enter the restaurant gate, the waitress will offered a menu listing of various cuisines of East Java. Most visitors always choose Rice Rawon as their favourite menu.



 Rawon Nguling sauce served sliced beef with sambal belacan and short sprouts as complement. Rawon Nguling is somewhat blackish watery gravy cause of kluwek seasoning, special seasonings to blend Rawon Nguling.
Feel fresh and eaten hot meat is very tender its beef meat. In East Java rarely eat rice with a sauce separately, unlike in Jakarta.


Enjoying Rawon Nguling together with shrimp crackers feels more solid and delicious.
Sense of watery blackness Rawon sauce feels right ingredients on the tongue.
Moreover, shrimp paste sauce mixed with bean sprouts, feels little bit spicy and fresh when you eat on the way.
It is suitable eaten in the middle of the trip because the many portion of the rice.



Instead of eating Rawon Nguling with shrimp crackers, Rawon Nguling can also be added to empal meat. Despite the thick, soft and feels empal fried flavor marinade.
